Will AI replace my job?

Enter your job title to see how much of the work AI is already used for, which tasks are affected, and where your experience could take you next.

High AI exposure

AI is used for a large part of this work. Expect the job to change.

Exposure score: 48 out of 100. Higher than about 98% of 756 occupations.

A high score means the work is changing, not that the job will disappear.

Tasks AI is already used for

  • Develop or maintain applications that process biologically based data into searchable databases for purposes of analysis, calculation, or presentation.
  • Conduct quality analyses of data inputs and resulting analyses or predictions.
  • Extend existing software programs, web-based interactive tools, or database queries as sequence management and analysis needs evolve.
  • Develop or apply data mining and machine learning algorithms.

Tasks with little AI use so far

  • Confer with researchers, clinicians, or information technology staff to determine data needs and programming requirements and to provide assistance with database-related research activities.
  • Analyze or manipulate bioinformatics data using software packages, statistical applications, or data mining techniques.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports or scientific publications.
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging computational methods and technologies.

AI roles worth a look

How this works

The score comes from the observed exposure measure in the Anthropic Economic Index. It combines what language models could do in theory with how they are actually used for work, based on Claude usage, and counts automated, work-related use more heavily. We show it out of 100.

Exposure is not a forecast of job losses. It describes US occupations and one AI product at one point in time, so a low score does not mean a job is safe and a high score does not mean it will go. Published research using this measure found no systematic rise in unemployment for highly exposed workers since late 2022, though it found suggestive signs of slower hiring of 22 to 25 year olds into exposed jobs. Read the research.

This is an estimate about occupations in general, not about you or your employer, and it is not career, financial or legal advice.
